Actually, You Can Take it With You

The works in the Bearings series are among the first I ever created when I shifted my studio practice toward small-scale sculpture, miniatures, and dioramas in 2003. The works all depict a “man in red” beset by natural calamities—clutching at rock formations, adrift at sea, and other scenes. The houses that appear in these works were the initial seeds that grew into my Distillation series, which puts house, home, and family at the center.
